Dr Umeokafor has received various honours/recognitions/awards not limited to:
- July 2021, Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) Best Paper Award, 9th World Construction Symposium, 9-10 July 2021, Sri Lanka.
- June 2020, author/co-author of 4 of the 21 chapters in the book, Construction Health and Safety in Developing Countries, which was awarded the 2019 Taylor & Francis Outstanding Book and Digital Product Award in the Outstanding Monograph in the Engineering Category.
- June 2019, University College of Estate Management ‘Teaching Excellence Awards’ of ‘Recognition of Excellence’.
- June 2019, University College of Estate Management ‘Teaching Excellence Awards’ of ‘Innovation in Teaching and Learning’ nomination.
- 2019, nominated for staff teaching award by the Students’ Union at University of Greenwich.
- June 2018, Winner of ‘University College of Estate Management Values’ award for ‘Passion’ including a monetary reward and his name included in the school’s ‘Hall of Fame’.
