Dr Umeokafor has received various honours/recognitions/awards not limited to:

  • July 2021, Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) Best Paper Award, 9th World Construction Symposium, 9-10 July 2021, Sri Lanka.
  • June 2020, author/co-author of 4 of the 21 chapters in the book, Construction Health and Safety in Developing Countries, which was awarded the 2019 Taylor & Francis Outstanding Book and  Digital  Product Award in the Outstanding Monograph in the Engineering Category.
  • June 2019, University College of Estate Management ‘Teaching Excellence Awards’ of ‘Recognition of Excellence’.
  • June 2019, University College of Estate Management ‘Teaching Excellence Awards’ of  ‘Innovation in Teaching and Learning’ nomination.
  • 2019, nominated for staff teaching award by the Students’ Union at University of Greenwich.
  • June 2018, Winner of ‘University College of Estate Management Values’ award for ‘Passion’ including a monetary reward and his name included in the school’s ‘Hall of Fame’.
  • June 2018, University College of Estate Management Teaching Excellence Award’ of ‘Recognition of Excellence’ nomination.
  • August 2015, International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) W099 International Health and Safety Conference Bursary award.
  • June 2015, ‘Runner-up for Best Research Results’ award at Plymouth University’s Faculty of Business 10th Annual PhD conference, 4 – 5th June 2015.
  • March 2014, his paper was one of the best five papers in the 3rd International Conference on Infrastructure Development in Africa selected for publication in the Journal of Construction Project Management and Innovation.
